So, another year passes us by and it seems as though its only been a few moments in time that last xmas was at our doorstep and NYE was only moments away! That is truly how life is! As a child we enjoy so much about life in such a different way and our days seem longer, we have so much time to play, eat yummy food, create what we choose and so much time to figure out what we like, enjoy and maybe one day will be! Well, today is that day so look in the mirror at who you are with a smile.
Bring in the New Year with kind and caring thoughts for others, but ensure you always protect yourself and DO NOT let others drain you. Remember that relationships whether with friends, children, partners, parents, whoever??? These relationships must be equal and there must be give and take or it will never work. We have to be allowed to blossom in our own lives; to be able to enjoy what we truly want out of our own lives.
Usually, if your are bitching about someone or not 100% happy with a relationship, it is almost always a reflection of yourself. You are seeing something in someone that you yourself have done in the past, you have been there and you have learned your lesson OR have you? If someone is complaining and its driving you mad, think about at time you have been low and just needed someone to talk to, think about how it made you feel, how it helped and this will make it so much easier to help that person.
I always try to look at life as positively as possible, keep my eyes wide open and stay on this path. For example its the holiday season and lots of people are having to work in retail shops, restaurants, department stores, etc and they may not be too particularly thrilled about this because they feel they are missing out on festivities. I take it as a challenge if I have a stroppy waiter or clerk and by the end of my purchase or stay at the chosen establishment I usually feel better as that chosen person is now smiling. A huge lesson I've learned is to always think about what you say, do, react before opening your mouth to others. You have no idea what that person could be going through on that day, loss of a family, missing their family, just simple lonely, a break up, anything could be possible. We are on this earth connected to eachother and we must take time out to be kind to eachother.
There are those who will choose a life of crime, dishonesty, disloyal and just plain and simple bad bad bad! But we have a choice and nobody is to blame for who we are but ourselves. We can all make a change and we are all able to change the future by only the simple things we do in life!
I know that each of you will have your own personal NYE resolutions for 2010, but make sure that one of them is to take more time out for others. Help someone cross the road, give up your seat on the bus/tube/train! Smile at someone in the supermarket, keep your head held up high and make eye contact with people because you could be the one difference in that person's life that makes a difference on that one day they need it most!!!
I wish so much happiness for everyone, for my family, my friends and all of those people I love soooo much! But I also wish happiness for those I don't know, for those not so well off as I am, for those who need a push of positivity...I send it all out there to wherever in the world you may be with a huge 'Solares' smile!
I can only hope that all of you feel as blessed as I do for what I have and what life offers me each and every day. My new year resolution is to look after myself, my life, my body, my health, my friends, my family, my animals and all that is a part of my life because this life is not a rehearsal but the one I have been given to make a difference!
Happy New Years Eve to all of the lovers in the world!!! Solares xxx

The Abusive Bottle
Along with the holidays comes the ever so expected 'bottle' syndrome! I think sometimes in order to get through the holidays some of us take to 'too' much alcohol and that is exactly what I did on Saturday evening; hence no blog yesterday so my apologies!
We all love a drink or two, but why we 'mix' and continue to down copius amounts of alcohol when we know that it will only hit us once we get to the front door, after we've tucked ourselves in bed or in the morning when we try to get up and we find an elephant sitting on our head with a mouth like Ghandi's flip flop.....
And to top it all off, its always when there is some sort of family/friend mini drama happening; therefore it makes our head work even harder under the stress of the liquid pain. I put myself through a day of pain and even a two hour massage didn't make things better. I felt as though someone was hammering in my head, little elves trying to get out to deliver their xmas packages!? They wouldn't give up and only simple relaxation and sleep would assist in making me feel much better this morning.
Remember that celebrating is always a necessity, but also remember to keep to one 'vice' whether it be gin, vodka, beer, wine, whatever, but DO NOT mix that is lethal as I'm sure you all know. Make sure you drink a glass of water to each alcoholic drink and take it slow as there is no reason to rush this ritual. Drinking is there to enjoy; not abuse and so many of us forget this. Our body is a temple and we have to take care of it or it will show in our later years. Drinking affects our skin and our course our vital organs which are so precious to us in early and later life.
I'm never quite sure how I get to drink so much, but I do know that an egg nogg martini, red wine, vodka tonic, berry martini and whiskey do not mix well together and that 'my dear watson' is the reason to put anyone over the edge for one single evening.
Love life, love fun, love adventure, love to appreciate the right way to drink and don't overdo it this holiday season; for your body will thank you later and you will be one less wrinkle as well!

Pie for Breakfast
The day after Christmas is always a somber one. I woke this morning to arise to a new gorgeous day with snow that fell so softly on the roof of our house, but also covered the streets with a glistening sheet of white, white, white!
The holidays gives you time to rest, relax and sleep in or simply do whatever your little heart desires. It always us to reflect on the year behind us, enjoy company with family, enjoy food until we couldn't possibly fit anymore into our wide bellies! I love the holidays and I love that this is how life should be all of the time.
We have to and must believe in the spirt of xmas, what it really means! We should always help others, smile, do something unselfish, give something up that you really, really enjoy just so that you understand how much you really, really love it!!! All of these things are so important to keep us above water, to not drown in the insanity that is somethings consuming (if we allow that in our lives). The trick is to take the best feelings of your life and try to feel this every day of your life.
I woke this morning after a late night of old movies with Barbara Streisand, that really put a smile on my face and made me laugh, laugh, laugh! I don't think I was up before 11am which some would say is an outrage, but for me its a simple luxury to enjoy a lazy morning, a chat with my mom and most of all the best part of this day was that I enjoyed pie for breakfast. Warm apple pie, homemade sprikled with the most delicate spice of cinnamon to add flavour to the juicy, gorgeous, perfect apples. The crust was perfectly flaky and the taste was just devine. Why not have pie for breakfast, who says we can't? Well, we can have whatever we want; whenever we want as long as its in proportion and we are looking after ourselves.
I hope that this wonderful day, the day after xmas has been one of simple pleasure for you and if you have had a difficult day; take time out this evening, now and look at the gorgeous sky above, the bright stars which shine without a care in the world, but just to be! Sit on the beach, sit in the snow, sit on a mountain or float on the sea to look up above and forget about everything for one simple minute to just 'be' and enjoy that moment for pure peace!
Enjoy the holidays and don't forget to induldge in your pie for breakfast :)

Christmas Day
Christmas Day only comes the once a year, but the way we feel should be with us throughout the year!? I have spent xmas alone and the lesson I learned that year was that xmas is only one day of the year and that one day I took time out for myself and enjoyed what I had around me. My life, my health, my home and my wonderful animals.
Now on this day I spend the holidays with my loving family and receive messages from all of my wonderful friends and family who are far away from me in distance, but with me everyday in my heart!
Think of xmas as another day of the year to enjoy our loved ones and appreciate what we have in life. Xmas is not about gifts, presents and spending money in the crazy xmas sales, but it is for spending time with those whom you want in your life and whom you can just sit in a room and say absolutely nothing. Don't be forced to have xmas with those that you feel 'you have to'! Life is way to short and it is for sure not a rehearsal that we have several 'takes' to prepare for.
Go with what you really feel, what you really want and be honest with those you really care about as that is truly a 'real' friend! Don't bottle up your feelings and tell those around you what you think, your thoughts, your love, whatever?! If there is something you really want out of life, do it, find a way and get there no matter what the circumstances!
So, however you feel today, lonely, happy, emotional, loving, estatic.... feel this emotion every day and be able to appreciate it for what it is. We are meant to have so many emotions as our energy allows us and that is one of the many wonders of this life!
I wish you all, whoever you are a wonderful xmas and holiday season! If you are spending xmas on your own, cherish the happy moments of your life, those you love or have loved and you will be filled with these thoughts of wonder all day long!
